True story for you here...
When I was down there a few weeks ago I met this gringo, probably in his mid to late 30s, in a bar and he was in a depressed mood. He told me his story, that he went down there to meet this girl he had met in one of these dating sites awhile back. He said the girl was incredibly good looking, but her sister was even more so. So at first as a "safety" issue he was going out with her and her sister, but things were going well and they got along as well as they did on the phone and writing to each other and he was thinking this is the "one". Well one problem, her sister was into the guy as well and had a major crush on him as well. Long story short one day while his girlfriend was off working, her sister came to visit him ostensibly for lunch. She comes to his hotel and then totally comes on to him. One thing leads to another and he ends up sleeping with her sister! Even worse a few days later her sister has a guilty conscience and tells all. Of course his girlfriend is livid and "dumps" him. So he feels like crap and just tours the country for a bit before his planned flight home. On his 3rd day away his "ex" calls his hotel and says she forgives him and he races back to San Jose to spend the remaining time with her. He leaves as planned, with her as his fiancee ring and all. Gets back home and a month later, things are still going well when her sister reports that she is pregnant with his child! So when I met this guy he was on his return trip to see the birth of his first child while filing some papers so he can get married to his fiancee. Her sister was still upset with him not deciding to marry her since they had this child together. He was down in the dumps because it was quite messy and he couldn't handle it.
So we discuss all this with the bartender, a young Tica, listening to us and I am thinking that is one messed up situation and then after he is done she says in somewhat broken English, "well you know that is bad, but I don't think is something crazy for San Jose. I am sure you can find others that have same problem".
All I could say was...Pura Vida...hehe.

I believe the guys pay a fee and get access to the girls profiles, and a way to send them email. The emails are either forwarded or an intermediary/translator calls them on the phone and relays a message back.
At least that's what I gathered when my friend lived here. He's since moved back to the States. He doesn't live on the income, no idea how profitable it is.

I honestly don't know how it works, I already have my Tica.
I believe the guys pay a fee and get access to the girls profiles, and a way to send them email. The emails are either forwarded or an intermediary/translator calls them on the phone and relays a message back.
At least that's what I gathered when my friend lived here. He's since moved back to the States. He doesn't live on the income, no idea how profitable it is.
